COMMUNITY EVENTS

We can often be found throughout the year at public events and cultural festivals. Taking inspiration from the Ozumo Jungyo (professional sumo’s regional tour), we blend EDUCATION & ENTERTAINMENT to bring our sport to new and current fans alike. It’s our goal to pass on the culture and traditions of sumo and help to dispel stereotypical assumptions about sumo. Please join us at our next event HERE!

tradition

is our mission

tradition & culture

We’re a pretty fun group, but when it comes to training and sumo traditions… We take take it pretty seriously. So much so, that we’ve flown in FORMER RIKISHI (retired professional sumo wrestlers) to help our club, fans and supporters gain a better understanding of the sport we all love so much. To-date we’ve trained and studied right here in Texas with former komusubi GAGAMARU MASARU & former komusubi KOKKAI FUTOSHI! We plan to continue this tradition with GAGAMARU’s return to Texas at our 2nd annual ROLLERTOWN SHOWDOWN SUMO TOURNAMENT in April 2024 at Rollertown Beerworks in Celina, TX!

community

awareness is key

Founded in January 2021 by Corey Morrison & Siggy Sauer out of their new love for this age-old sport.

They worked with American sumo veterans TOM ZABLE of San Antonio’s MIGHTY EAGLE SUMO and JUSTIN KIZZART of Austin’s DARK CIRCLE SUMO CLUB to expand the sport to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex where potential wrestlers had been waiting and eager to join!

beginnings

In August 2022 our club became a 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.

It’s our hope that by working towards of goal of fostering the education and awareness of Japan’s national sport that we’ll bring a new and rich culture to the community of DFW. We work with OUR SPONSORS to expand this family-friendly pass-time to a growing audience, while maintaining its historical roots.

our mission

We’re proud of what we’ve already accomplished in such a short period of time (you can view our accolades HERE!) But we’re ready to help our sport continue its expansion and growth within the great State of Texas, throughout America and all across the world!

It doesn’t matter whether you’re an individual, local business or multi-national corporation. It’s with your
DONATION or SUPPORT that we can make help preserve and expand sumo!
